A 10-YEAR-OLD student was instantly killed when the vehicle she was travelling in veered off the Kings Rd and ended up in a sugarcane field at Tagitagi in Tavua on Saturday. Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said Diana Nabalarua died after being thrown from the vehicle which was driven by 32-year-old Keresi Nabalarua.
It is believed the deceased and the driver were residents of Waiyavi in Lautoka.
“The incident happened about 3pm on Saturday and we are urging motorists to please adhere to the road rules and the speed limits,” she said.
Ms Naisoro said drivers had to behave responsibly because too many lives were being lost due to carelessness and reckless driving habits.
She cited the fact that a 49-year-old woman died in a road accident in Nakasi on Friday night.
