MEMBERS of the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants 2015 champion Rewa team were rewarded for their hard work and dedication on Saturday night at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
The players were given $1000 and gift hampers by the association and the sponsors after their BOG title win.
Rewa FA president Nazeel Buksh challenged his players to take the association to the greater heights by playing in the OFC Champions League.
“We have always challenged our players and today I also challenge the players to dream big and I ask them to do what Rewa has never done before.
“Rewa needs to play in the Oceania Champions League and that is what this club deserves,” proud president said.
“I have been with Rewa for 10 years and this is the best team we have ever come up with. We have mixture of young and old boys.
“For fans it is the start of the long journey. It took 18 months to build this team with the right coach, right officials and importantly the right players. We hope that what we had built will not go to waste.”
Coach Marika Rodu shared with the guests and the team officials the reason he is so attached to Rewa.
“I used to stay just beside the Ratu Cakobau Park and whenever there used to be a tournament I had to collect money for the Car Park at our compound. I was not interested in football but in collecting money.
“Whenever there used to be a tournament here I used to see Rewa fans going home from here disappointed. The fans used to tell me that Rewa is not winning so from that day I told myself that when I will grow up I will do my best for Rewa.
“Today is the day when we are all here to celebrate the success.”
Veteran Rewa utility Lorima Dau said he was always felt proud to represent the district.
“It feels so good seeing the people of Nausori happy and smiling,”
“Our president and coach have got a lot of vision and plans and there are a number of things yet to come.”
