The Education Ministry has assigned the principal of Queen Victoria School principal to another district as it continues its investigation of the alleged abuse of junior students by seniors continues.
Minister Aseri Radrodro confirmed the development after concerns were raised by parents and students over the alleged abuse and discovery of illegal substances at the boarding school.
“Things are better when there is intervention when the allegations come out. However, we are still conducting the investigation.
“The head of school is reporting to the Nausori office to allow the investigation to be carried out,” Mr Radrodro said.
It does not mean that we have taken some kind of disciplinary action. We just want to ensure we carry out the investigation in a transparent manner. Hopefully, the investigation will be completed soon, and we will take it from there.”
“Every teacher in a boarding school has an expectation of what they can do outside of normal teaching time, and they need to do some supervision. When you do not get any supervision, who is to be blamed for that? We hope to get the answers in our investigation,” he said.
