The hearing date for former Telecom Fiji Ltd and Amalgamated Telecom Holdings board member Sanjay Kaba, who is accused of obtaining a financial advantage of more than $700,000, will be fixed next month.

His lawyer, Wasu Pillay, yesterday sought a hearing date, however, Magistrate Charles Ratakele said a hearing date will be fixed for early next year.

Mr Kaba is alleged to have engaged in bidding for a tender through his company, Houng Lee Kaba Jacob Ltd (HLK Jacob), to provide project management services for TFL’s new office and data centre project.

As a result, he allegedly obtained $766,327.22 between June 2022 and July 2023. It is further alleged he knew HLK Jacob Ltd was not eligible to receive this financial advantage as he had failed to declare his interest as a director of the company.

The case will be recalled on November 11.
