Update: 10:56AM A LARGE magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck on Wednesday morning near Vanuatu, but did not trigger a tsunami warning throughout the region, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said.
The quake took place about 46 kilometres northeast of Port-Olry, or about 339 kilometres north-northwest of Port-Vila, according to the Centre.
The United States Geological Survey initially had registered the powerful but deep quake at 7.2, before revising it upwards.
There was no information about casualties or damage immediately available.
