A total of $60,000 has been given by Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa to Cure Kids Fiji to fund their continuous efforts in battling rheumatic heart disease in Fijian children.

The huge contribution, raised through fundraising events and guest donations was handed over to Cure Kids Fiji by Accor Pacific CEO Sarah Derry who praised the organisation for its commitment to the child health program.

“We are incredibly proud of the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa team for continuing to raise funds and awareness for such an amazing cause,” said Ms Derry.

“Accor and Cure Kids have had a long-standing partnership and we look forward to continuing to make a difference in the lives of the children in Fiji.”

Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa general manager Vincent Macquet said they were delighted to have raised $60,000 despite the challenges they had faced over the course of the last couple of years.

Cure Kids Fiji fundraising and operations manager Jennifer Miller said the assistance would make a real impact on their work.

“Cure Kids is so grateful for Accor’s commitment, despite the challenges of the pandemic, to help continue funding our vital child health programs,” Ms Miller said.

“There is much work still to be done and the support we’ve received from the team at Sofitel Fiji will make a real impact in improving and saving the lives of Fijian kids, for this generation and those to come.”

According to the resort, Accor has been a longstanding supporter of Cure Kids Fiji since 2006 when it helped establish the organisation.

The team at Accor has provided cash donations amounting to more than $4m throughout the years.

The cash was raised by Accor properties in Fiji, Australia and New Zealand where Accor’s teams competed in the bi-annual AccorHotels ‘Race to Survive for Cure Kids Fiji’.
