CRICKET Fiji has identified 30 boys and 30 girls from Tailevu who will be part of the two-day cricket camp during the Term 1 school break.

They will be joined by their “elite” counterparts from Suva, Nasinu, Navua, Nadi and Lautoka for this camp.

Cricket Fiji chief executive officer Alex Konrote said similar camps would be held for primary schools in Lau.

“We are planning to include more primary schools at this competition level and hope to cover the whole of Fiji by the end of the year,” he said.

“Last Saturday 13 Tailevu boys teams and 12 girls teams went head to head for the Tailevu Primary Schools Cricket Trophy.

“Competition was held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

“And in good Tailevu fashion the enthusiasm and skills level portrayed was beyond CF’s expectation. It was so beautiful to watch our young sons and daughters playing cricket out in rugby and soccer mad Tailevu and putting on an awesome show for the hundreds of parents and spectators that turned up.

“Massive respect to the head teachers and team managements of all the schools for being part of our development program from last year and for the support shown towards the tournament.”
