Two private lawyers have declined to represent murder accused Apisai Madigibuli unless he pays them both $5000.
Justice Dane Tuiqereqere’s court clerk relayed their position in court yesterday, confirming this was the response after speaking with them.
When asked if he could afford the fees, Mr Madigibuli indicated that he could.
Mr Madigibuli is accused of killing his pregnant wife, Kitiana Baravilala, at an apartment complex on April 25, 2024.
Justice Tuiqereqere advised him to secure legal representation before the matter is called again on April 7.
