$589.1m value of work in construction

The Fiji Bureau of Statistics recorded $589.1 million in total estimated value of work put-in-place in the construction industry last year.

These were based on data it gathered from all registered private building and civil works contractors engaged in work for both the private sector and the general government.

In its construction statistics for 2025 released in March this year, the FBoS stated the total value of work put-in-place had increased by $4.5m (0.8 per cent) when compared to $584.6m recorded in 2024.

In 2023, the total value of work put-in-place by the private and public sectors stood at $557.9.

Of the $589.1m value of work last year, a total of $329.7m (56.0 per cent) accounted for work done by the private sector, and $259.4m (44.0 per cent) were the value of work done by the public sector.

According to the Bureau, of the total $589.1m, civil engineering work accounted for $288.3m (48.9 per cent); work done by new building and capital repairs were valued at $234.6m (39.8 per cent); and current repairs and maintenance accounted for $66.2m (11.3 per cent).

The Bureau’s construction statistics release for the March quarter this year will be released in June.
