A fifty-six-year-old man died after being allegedly hit by a vehicle while crossing the Viseisei bypass in Lautoka.
In a statement, the Fiji Police Force said the man was fishing from a bridge near the site of the incident.
“He was rushed to the Lautoka Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” the statement read.
“The 63-year-old suspect remains admitted at the Lautoka Hospital as investigations continue.”
The current 2023 road death toll stands at 66 compared with 35 for the same period last year.
