SUPERVISOR of Elections Ana Mataiciwa says she filed a police complaint against her predecessor Mohammed Saneem and former Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum after discrepancies were found in the use of public funds by the Fiji Elections Office.
She took the stand today as a prosecution witness.
She said the irregularities in payments made to Mr Saneem were brought to her attention in January 2023 when she held the position of Manager Legal.
After confirming with the Constitutional Offices Commission that it had not authorized a payment of $55,794 to Mr Saneem, she lodged a complaint with police.
The trial is presently underway at the Suva High Court, presided by Chief Justice Salesi Temo.
