A royalty payment of $529,117.92 has been handed over to landowners in Vaturu under Mining Lease 62, marking the fifth distribution from Lion One Pte Limited.
The payment was presented to Marama ni Yavusa Rarawaqa, Mrs Kelera Matalau of Mataqali Nacokula, as the remaining landowner for the lease.
Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo said the payout reflects ongoing collaboration between Government, developers and the vanua.
“This payment is more than a financial transaction. It is a recognition of your enduring role as custodians of the land,” he said.
“The Government’s commitment to ensuring that landowners receive their rightful share of benefits from resource development. We look forward to many days such as this,”
Mr Vosarogo said the Government remains committed to ensuring landowners receive their fair share of benefits from resource development.
The payment covers the period from December 2025 to March 2026.
