$5000 boost for Team Fiji athletics

TEAM Fiji athletics received a timely boost with a gift of $5000 from Shop N Save Supermarket yesterday.

The gift was not only to assist the athletes in their Olympics preparation but to boost their morale and do well at the Games.

Shop and Save representative Nishal Prashik said the objective of the gift was to encourage the athletes to do well in Rio.

“The donation shows our commitment and support towards Team Fiji at the Games,” he said.

“We believe that our contribution will motivate the athletes to do well and to give their best for the country.”

Athletics coach James Goulding said the gift would contribute positively to the athletes campaign in Rio.

“We thank Shop N Save for their continued support and commitment to help promote the athletes and the sport,” said Goulding.

“The supermarket has contributed immensely to the development of the sport in Fiji and believes the contribution means a lot to the athletes.

“We also believe the athletes know what is required of them and use the opportunity to showcase their talent to the world.”

Athletics will be represented by Leslie Copeland and Sisilia Seavula accompanied by coaches Makelesi Batimala, Bola Tafo’ou and jevellin coach Goulding.

The team departs for Rio tomorrow.
