A total of 36 surfers from 12 countries will take part in the 2024 Corona Fiji Pro at Cloudbreak, Tavarua Island.

President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere officially opened the competition at Marriott Fiji Resort in Nadi yesterday.

“There has been a lot of work, dedication and investment in bringing the World Tour competition to Fiji, and I would like to thank the World Surf League, Andrew Stark and Ryan Crosby for your confidence in including Fiji as part of the tour,” he said.

He said there were 12 women and 24 men in the competition, including Fiji’s wildcard participant Tevita Gukilau.

“Surf, like any other sport, is driven out of passion and over the next few days, we will gather to witness feats of athleticism and grace.

“We will also honour a sport that embodies the pure joy of riding the waves and the deep connection between humans and nature,” Ratu Wiliame said.

He said through the World Surf League’s three-year partnership with the Fiji Government, Cloudbreak would remain on tour until 2026.
