FIJI Amateur Boxing Association (FABA) has confirmed three local boxers have secured their places for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Aminiasi Saratibau headlines the team, with the Army boxer set to compete in the 80kg division, while Police officer Jone Davule will represent Fiji in the 60kg category.
Fiji’s sole female boxer for the event, Jasmine Daunakamakama, will compete in the women’s 57kg division.
FABA head coach Cam Todd confirmed to this newspaper they are aiming to secure two additional spots for the Glasgow meet.
“At this stage we have three boxers confirmed for the Commonwealth Games where we were given three spots and we are still hoping for two more but at this stage we have three confirmed spots,” he said.
The three boxers, alongside the rest of the national amateur boxing team, will compete at the upcoming Pacific Nations Competition this weekend at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
In their first international tournament of the year, Todd has demanded a strong performance from the team.
“I’m looking for strong performances. I want them to make a statement to the other Island nations that Fiji is here,” Todd noted.
“And for the Commonwealth Games boxers it’s the start of their international campaign towards the meet in Glasgow.”
Outside of the competition, Todd plans to conduct joint training sessions with other countries—an ideal opportunity to gain quality, high-intensity sparring experience for local boxers against top-tier international opponents.
The Commonwealth Games will be held from July 23-August 2.
