Nadi based tourist transport operator Tewaka invested $3.6 million into upgrading their fleet and supporting infrastructure in 2025.

Tewaka managing director James Sowane said the upgrades ensured efficient operations across the company.

“With our fleet upgrade last year, our focus for 2026 is to maintain and ensure efficient utilisation of our new fleet whilst continuing with staff training and development,” Mr Sowane said.

“2025 was a year of continued investment and staff training.

“In regard to our fleet, we invested in four brand new coaches, mini-vans and SUV’s plus we also launched our four-brand new electric vehicles.

“Our total investment in fleet and supporting infrastructure was $3.6 million.

“We continued to invest in our in-house professional driver training program earlier in the year to prepare our new and existing drivers for the 2025 season.”

Tewaka was among a group of winners at the 2025 ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards on February 28.

“FETA is the custodian of Best Practice and Operational Excellence for our tourism industry.

“The nominees, finalists and winners at FETA deserve praise and acknowledgement for their standards of excellence in the delivery of their respective services.”

While 2025 was another huge year for the company, Mr Sowane says 2026 may begin with some challenges for the tourism industry.

“2026 is going to be tough for our tourism industry given the competitive pressures (on price) by our competing destinations plus the expected direct impacts on the current Middle East crisis.”
