Thirty-six new Public Rental Board (PRB) units worth about $3.6million opened in Simla, Lautoka on Friday.
Of these 36 units, 12 on the ground floor would be for handicapped tenants.
PRB deputy chairman Saud Minam said the need to create awareness of social responsibilities within the PRB was very important.
“Although this is a temporary place for everyone to come and live in, please take care of this facility like it is your own home,” Mr Minam said.
He said one of the PRB’s major difficulties was maintaining the units.
“There is always someone else standing in the line once you leave. There are parking spots also made for those that will have cars,” Mr Minam said.
“It is our responsibility to work towards the betterment of the PRB and make sure we provide affordable and quality units for people to live in.”
