The Government has spent more than $2 million on the construction of roadside stalls located throughout the country.
Minister for Commerce, Trade and Toursim Faiyaz Koya revealed this in Parliament recently.
“Since the launch, we have constructed about 102 permanent strong and durable roadside stalls throughout the country,” said Mr Koya.
“This has actually been an investment of over $2 million by Fijian Government to provide Fijians with clean and standardised stalls.”
Mr Koya said the Government was committed to promoting an entrepreneur culture in the country.
“Growth of SMEs is essential for job creation and income generation, rural development, poverty alleviation and empowerment of our grassroots communities.
Stalls are one of the many initiatives introduced by this Government to promote those SMEs.”
Mr Koya said all 102 stalls were rated Category 5 cyclone proof. The roadside stalls initiative was launched in 2018.
