THE excitement builds in Sigatoka as the Super 7s Qualifier for the 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s kicks off this Saturday at Lawaqa Park.
Organisers have confirmed the pools and fixtures for what promises to be one of the most competitive qualifying tournaments to date, with twenty-eight local teams fighting for only seven available spots at January’s main event.
Tournament Director Randall Kamea said preparations have gone well and the organisers are eager to see strong, fast-paced rugby throughout the one-day competition.
Pool A features Devo Babas, Island Magic Daveta, Tubarua Highlanders and C3 Brothers in a group that mixes experience, flair and physicality.
Pool B includes Ratu Filise, Kesenavunivalu Rugby, Suva Stallions and St Gabriel Nakavika, with Ratu Filise expected to set the early tone while the remaining three sides fight hard to keep pace.
In Pool C, Uso Tasi Rugby, Lami Cavaliers, Pegasus Rugby and Yaro Chiefs set up a balanced contest where any team has the potential to top the group.
Pool D brings together Covenant Rugby, Ravuka Sharks, Yalova Spearhead and Dominion Brothers, shaping a pool defined by power, structure and strong finishing ability.
Pool E sees Flametree Waimanu joined by Tuva Rugby, Deii Westfield and Lomaviti, a group that promises fast, free-flowing rugby.
Pool F features Vacalea Young Boys, Taikita Brothers, Nahehevia Patriot and Islanders Rugby, all known for their speed and athleticism, making it one of the most unpredictable pools of the day.
Pool G shapes up as the heavyweight group of the tournament, with Police Blue, Army Green and Wardens all drawn together alongside FSC Grassroots Fiji, who face a massive test but will look to rise to the challenge.
Matches begin early in the morning and continue throughout the day until the knockout rounds, where the seven qualifiers will be decided. With high stakes and only limited spaces available, fans can expect intense contests, breakout performances and non-stop entertainment.
