AUSTRALIAN retailer Lowes Menswear in collaboration with Vuvale Outsourcing donated over 26,000 brand new industrial work pants to be distributed to farm workers across Fiji, especially the sugar industry.

With a retail value of more than $2million, the high-quality pants are designed for toughness, breathability and freedom of movement, suited for the everyday conditions faced by Fiji’s rural agricultural workforce, the two companies said in a statement.

“This is more than a donation — it’s a practical show of respect for the important contribution of Fiji’s rural workforce,” Vuvale Outsourcing co-founder Miles Blok said.

“Lowes is an iconic Australian brand with a rich history of serving Australia’s rural and regional communities.

“With this latest donation, Lowes’ total contributions to Fiji now reaches $3.5m worth of clothing, comprising over 70,000 pieces to be delivered to families and communities in need across the country.

“The first phase of the initiative, launched earlier this year, saw $1.5m worth of children’s clothing distributed throughout rural Fiji in partnership with FENC Fiji.”
Lowes Menswear chief executive officer Linda Penn said their longstanding relationship with Fiji has been a source of inspiration, especially through their call centre operations over the last eight years.

“This donation represents Lowes’ dedication to giving back to the communities we’ve grown so closely connected with,” she said.

“With the combined effort of our partners, we are able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, women and men throughout Fiji.”

The companies acknowledged the Sugar Cane Growers Fund and its chief executive officer Raj Sharma for their continued support.

“Mr Sharma and the SCGF team have been vocal advocates for the needs of farm workers, and from the very beginning, have played a key role in bringing this project to life,” they stated.

“Their on-the-ground insight, commitment and collaboration have ensured that this donation reaches those who need it most, in the places that matter most.”
