2480 complaints against lawyers

MORE than 2480 complaints against lawyers were received by the Independent Legal Services Commission ever since it was established in 2009.

This has resulted in 11 lawyers being disbarred with some unable to ever practise law again.

In his opening address at the Fiji Law Society Convention 2017 in Sigatoka yesterday, Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the majority of complaints had to do with the misuse of trust fund accounts.

“We have had problems with the profession,” he said.
