23 to fly Fiji’s flag at swimming event

FIJI will field a strong and balanced team for the upcoming Oceania Swimming Championships, with 23 swimmers set to carry the nation’s hopes at the Damodar Aquatic Centre in Suva next month.

The squad features a promising mix of emerging talent and experienced swimmers, underlining Fiji’s intent to make a bold statement at one of the region’s premier aquatic meets.

The nine female swimmers are Anahira McCutcheon, Marseleima Moss and Kelera Mudunasoko, who will be joined by Vivita Bai, Grace Khelan, Theola Kwong, Charis Kwong, Salote Leca and Jonalese Vatubua.

The men’s lineup is equally formidable, led by Pacific Games gold medallists Hansel McCaig and David Young.

The duo anchors a 14-member team that includes Keenan Kostatino, Thaddeus Kwong, Makalo Philp, Livai Raviko, Jeremiah Rova, Maki’uti Seruvatu, Che Taito, Reuben Taylor, Samuel Yalimaiwai, Tilden Samuelu, Don Younger and Jamesa Younger.

The championships carry added significance, with Fiji’s hosting the event and welcoming the region’s best swimmers to Suva.

The team will be managed by Sharon Smith, with coaching duties handled by Paula Cokanasiga, Willie Elaisa, Salaseini Lele, Esther Malani and Rosemary Rova.

The XIV Oceania Swimming Championships 2026 will start from May 8 to 13.
