The Hibiscus Festival will take on a spiritual dimension this Sunday, with a full day of outreach and gospel music woven into the carnival atmosphere.
Organisers say the program is designed to give families and visitors a chance to reflect while still enjoying all the colour of Fiji’s biggest festival.
“The Hibiscus Festival has always been about community, and Sunday’s outreach program provides a spiritual space for people to come together in worship and fellowship,” the organisers said.
The day will begin with the Hibiscus Village opening at 10am, followed by a morning church service at the Suva Foreshore.
In the afternoon, the Fiji Council of Churches will host a major outreach service on the main stage, leading into a line-up of gospel music, including the Makoi Gospel Choir and a special Gospel Night.
Other highlights include a car show at Constitution Avenue, a queen’s rehearsal at the Suva Civic Centre, and performances by dance group Action Chorus and choir Dolche Voices.
Festival organisers say the spiritual program balances the entertainment and pageantry of Hibiscus week, offering “something meaningful for everyone”.
