Former South Africa rugby 7s captain Kyle Brown and Renata Roberts TeNana are revelling in Fiji’s warm welcome in the scenic town of Sigatoka, also known as the Salad Bowl of Fiji.

The duo expressed their excitement about the friendly greetings from locals as they traversed the roads and engaged in training sessions, gearing up for the upcoming MacDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s.

They will be part of the Ambassadors All Stars team which is coached by Sir Gordon Tietjens.

Brown, a first-time visitor to Fiji, was pleasantly surprised to hear people cheering for him during training.

“Fiji is magical; it’s my first time here.

Despite a bit of rain and sunshine, one remarkable thing about Fiji is the deep passion for rugby 7s. During training, everyone was shouting, ‘Go Kyle!’” exclaimed Brown.

During their visit to Semi Kunatani’s village on Monday, Brown was moved emotionally.

“We went up the river to Semi Kunatani’s village. It was a bit emotional as we talked about Semi being a gold medal winner. We discussed High-Performance Centres and Olympic Centres, but none are more beautiful than his village,” added Brown.

Brown rates young TeNana , describing him as cosmopolitan.

“I’m just enjoying Fiji, acting my age. Everywhere I go, people shout ‘Bula!’ I love the palm trees by the ocean,” TeNana said.
