Fiji-born Nicole Amanaki has been included in the New Zealand 7s Development side to the McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s tournament that starts at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka tomorrow.
The towering forward will be joined by a handful of other All Blacks 7s stars in the likes of Sam Dickson, Jayden Keelan, Xavier Harris, and Brady Rush. Amanaki was born and raised in Fiji before he moved to New Zealand when he was 10 years old.
The New Zealand 7s Development side has been placed in an exciting pool along with the Ambassadors All Stars, Devo Babas, and Ravuka.
In their opening match on Thursday, they face Ambassadors All Stars at 11.40am on ground one.
Tournament founding chairman Jay Whyte says having the majority of the All Blacks 7s members in the side should certainly increase the competition among other teams in their pool.
“We are excited to be having the NZ Development side in the competition, and we thank the New Zealand Rugby Union for agreeing to come on board and compete,” he said.
“This is also their first time to come compete at the Coral Coast 7s and we are happy to have them here with us.”
Whyte added that having international players from all over the world compete in the tournament will help lift the standard of the game in the country.
