The vote for parliamentary pay rise was deemed unpopular, says Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad.
“If it was communicated better, maybe it would have received the vote of the people,” he said.
Prof Prasad said the overall increase was $4.2 million, not $8.1 million.
He said they would consider for an independent committee to be hired to conduct an evaluation exercise for parliamentarian in the future.
