The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs has been allocated $39.4 million in the 2024-2025 National Budget.
“In this budget, we are again providing to empower our indigenous community, we had provided an increased budget compared to around $17 million prior to the coalition government,” said Minister for Finance, Prof Biman Prasad.
He said this budget also includes the introduction of a new scheme to provide interest free loans to support development of our iTaukei resource owners and investments by provincial holding companies.
“The Fiji Development Bank and Merchant Finance have already partnered with the Government to provide loans with 3 years of interest subsidy paid by the Government,” Mr Prasad said.
“We have provided $4 million which can cater for almost $60 million of interest free loans.”
