The year 2023 will be a year of revival, awakening and renewed spirit, says president of the Fiji New Zealand Business Council, Renu Chand.
Speaking at the joint conference of the New Zealand Fiji Business Council (NZFBC) and Fiji New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC) held in Auckland yesterday, Ms Chand shared some of the activities and achievements of the business councils with the members and delegates present at the conference.
“In March the business councils participated in Fiji’s trade delegation to New Zealand led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica, 85 businesses from Fiji travelled to NZ to partner in fields of trade and investment. This is the largest ever trader delegation from Fiji to NZ,” she said.
Ms Chand said since the reopening of borders, these were remarkable times for the councils to capitalise on further opportunities and strengthen the Duavata partnerships.
“We have huge opportunities to grow our economic ties further and beyond tourism — from agriculture to manufacturing to business processing outsourcing.”
She said it was important to recognise Fiji’s exceptional talent, highly educated and English speaking youthful population with a low cost and robust business model.
Ms Chand said the topics at the conference and speakers had been chosen to allow for vibrant and useful exchange of information, talanoa and sharing ideas towards a sustainable future for our Pacific Whanau.
