In his official address yesterday, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka urged the 500-plus delegates to participate fully in the summit and find workable solutions to promote economic growth and overall development.

And he also assured them that without their knowledge and collective wisdom would they be able to develop practical and lasting solutions to improve the lives of the people.

“You are the leaders in your own fields and we come together as leaders of the nation,” Mr Rabuka said.

“We need to strengthen our laws and institution. We need to restore investor confidence and improve the business environment, and at the same time protect our natural resources.

“We need to rebuild our infrastructure, which has been neglected and most importantly, look at ways to ease the burden of high costs of living for our people.”

He noted the importance of promoting trade and building confidence in the private sector, and the continuation of strengthening multilateral and bilateral relations with trading and development partners.

Mr Rabuka said he was confident that the findings and recommendations from the summit would contribute to the formulation of the national budget and development plan.
