Fiji Day is all about showing love. This was the message from Andrews Primary School head teacher, Dharmendra Reddy during the school’s Fiji Day celebration in Nadi.
The school like many around the country had celebrated Fiji Day with World Children’s Day, World Teachers Day and Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday last week.
The students learned about the importance of the national holiday and what it means to be proud citizens of the country.
Mr Reddy said to mark the occasion teachers had turned up in their blue kalavata which signified Fiji’s flag and the vast ocean that surrounds us.
“This year’s celebration was a grand one as we had several things to celebrate and it was a good thing to for the students to enjoy,” he said.
Also in Naitasiri, students of Naqali District School took part in a Fiji Day celebration.
Naqali District School head teacher Urmila Singh said the students were in a joyous mood when they presented their items, displayed artifacts and showcased their traditional attire.
“Students were served ice-cream too, which they all enjoyed,” she said.
The students had also organised a World Teacher’s Day program and presented items and honoured the sacrifices that their teachers have made over the years.
“I am pleased with the way the students acknowledged the teachers.
Students are really talented. The items depict the essence of both the occasions,” she said.
In Vanua Levu, students of Kubulau District School in Bua also celebrated Fiji Day in style with students, teachers and parents participating in organised activities for them to enjoy during the day.
