RUGBY 7s fans should expect the trademark Fijian 7s flair, dazzling footwork, startling ball-handling skills and brilliant talents to be displayed by the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team during the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco this weekend.

Head coach Gareth Baber has selected a well-balanced team that comprised four world class players in Leone Nakarawa, Josua Tuisova, Semi Kunatani and Semi Radradra to best suit the renowned Fijian rugby flair.

He said the side had threats all over the park to keep oppositions guessing.

“We will be playing with pace and continuity and not allowing oppositions to settle,” said Baber.

“I just have to think about how we put our threats on the field because there are elements and what we do in terms of speed movements and play the high tempo game we like. “We need to have possessions and strike against opponents and everybody need to be there to execute the plan well this weekend.”

Baber said the inclusion of overseas-based players would elevate the standard of the team.

“Kunatani, Tuisova and Radradra all played in tournaments in London and Paris and I have got a good measure of their roles. “All have handled all the training and conditioning sessions we have put them through and there is a slight difference in balance. “We talked with Leone and he knows what we wanted to do within the game and he has a particular ability to do something better than anybody else. “That is by carrying the ball, winning kick-offs and always causing oppositions problem.”

The side will arrive in San Francisco later today and have four more training runs before playing their first game.

Fiji will face the winner of the Japan vs Uruguay side in the do-or-die pool game and barring any upset the side will face Argentina in the quarter-finals.
