2016 Fiji Hall of Fame event postponed

FASANOC advises the postponement of the 2016 Fiji Sports Hall of Fame and Fiji Olympic Order awards night that was to be held last night.

The Fiji Sports Hall of Fame was inaugurated in 1990 by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee.

It is an everlasting tribute to sportsmen and sportswomen of Fiji. The Hall of Fame acknowledges and honours Fiji’s super athletes who for over 65 years have competed in Fiji and abroad against the best in the world.

FASANOC CEO Lorraine Mar said: “Unfortunately, the current criteria does not provide for teams to be inducted into the Fiji Sports Hall of Fame.

“Therefore the FASANOC Executive Board has agreed to defer this year’s induction in order to address this technical anomaly.”

A new date for the Fiji Sports Hall of Fame and Fiji Olympic Order awards will be confirmed at a later date.

The Fiji’s team, after their historic gold medal win at the Olympic Games in Rio, is expected to be among nominees for the induction.
