$200k fuels Fiji’s Coral Coast tournament

McDonald’s Fiji has strengthened its partnership with the Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s after presenting a $200,000 cheque for the three-day tournament scheduled for January 15-17 at Lawaqa Park.

Fiji’s Coral Coast Sevens organising committee chair and founder Jay Whyte received the cheque in Nadi yesterday.

McDonald’s Fiji Managing Director Marc McElrath said he was excited for the upcoming event.

“I’m excited for another 2026 Coral Coast 7s on behalf of McDonald’s it’s our absolute pleasure to be again working with Jay and the team from the Coral Coast 7s.

“Again, next year we are looking forward to another exciting Coral Coast 7s down at Lawaqa Park and as usual there will be alot of fireworks. There’s alot of teams that will be hard to beat so looking forward to the Coral Coast 7s 2026,” McElrath said.

Whyte said the sponsorship helps build momentum for the tournament.

“Very highly anticipated McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s with big announcements we have been releasing recently with the McDonald’s Mike Friday selects team building the anticipation and it wouldn’t be possible without our great sponsor McDonald’s who made it all possible, so we are here to seal the deal for 2026,” Whyte said.
