$200 million upgrade at Vatukoula Gold Mines

The Vatukoula Gold Mines is to under go a $200 million upgrade, the Ministry for Lands & Mineral Resources has announced.

An agreement was signed by major shareholder of the Vatukoula Mines, Shandong Zhaojing Group Company Limited from China and the Ministry yesterday.

The Party Secretary of Yantai Municipal Government Jiang Cheng led the delegation.

“The agreement is focused on the upgrading of mining facilities in Vatukoula which is estimated around $200 million FJD,” said the Ministry.

Other members of the delegation included Zhou Jian Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Jiang Cheng Party secretary of Yantai municipal government, Zhao Yanmin Deputy Chief of staff of Yantai municipal government, Liu Haibin Hai Yang city party secretary, Shi Xin, Zhaoyuan city party secretary, Sun Fuxin, Director Yantai Municipality Foreign Liaison Office and Wang Leyi chairman of Shandong Zhaojin group.
