THE $2.5billion Emerald Bay development in Nadawa, Nasinu, is poised to reshape the urban and economic landscape of the town over the next seven years, bringing new residential, commercial, and tourism opportunities.
Nasinu Town Council acting chief executive officer and board chairman Felix Magnus described the project as transformative.
“The project means a lot to the people of Nasinu,” he said.
“The first phase will deliver 184 residential lots, expected to be completed by mid-year, with house construction to follow.”
Mr Magnus said the project would also attract major commercial partners, with work on commercial lots set to begin once the initial residential phase was complete.
Beyond housing and commercial space, Emerald Bay will feature seven hotels and a fully-fledged sporting stadium capable of hosting major tournaments, addressing a long-standing gap in Suva.
He said this was the biggest development in the Central Division, “apart from maybe Pacific Harbour”.
The council emphasised that local communities will directly benefit from employment opportunities during construction.
“Once the houses begin, people from nearby settlements will be employed here. That’s why this project means a lot to us,” Mr Magnus said, highlighting both economic growth and community impact as central to the development.
