A DIVERSE group of 18 participants from the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji, Central Pacific Producers Ltd in Kiribati, Kiribati Provident Fund, Kiribati Oil Company Ltd and Kiribati’s Ministry of Information, Communications and Transport successfully completed training on corporate governance and risk management in Suva this week.

The training was facilitated by BTraining Consulting based in Bengaluru, India and focused on corporate governance, corporate culture, and risk management.

It aimed to help participants facilitate the adoption of sound corporate governance practices and implement Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) within their businesses, BTraining Consulting said in a statement.

The training included discussions aimed at understanding that these three components were dynamic value-based forces that helped build an environment of trust, transparency and accountability that is critical for fostering long-term investment, financial stability, and business integrity.

BTraining Consulting regional director Arif Basha said all activities in an organisation and all business decisions involved risk and all managers had a responsibility to professionally manage the risks in their business.

“This program gave them the tools and knowledge to identify, analyse, evaluate, manage, and report on these risks,” Mr Basha said.

He said from 2023 to 2024, BTraining Consulting had trained 205 participants in the area of corporate governance and risk management. The program was facilitated by Jay Chander, a fellow chartered accountant and risk practitioner with 40 years of professional and practical experience.
