The Solomon Islands took an early lead on the Pacific Games medal tally board yesterday.
Day four of the games in Honiara had 23 gold medals on offer – eight in swimming and 15 in weightlifting.
Swimmers were still in the pool when the Solomon Islands was leading with three gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
In second place was Marshall Islands with two gold and one silver followed by Northern Mariana Islands with one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
Fiji had two lifters yesterday.
Sixteen-year-old Elizabeth Chute finished fifth in the 55kg category while Apakuki Wakanibua competed in the 83kg class.
There were several of Fiji’s swimmers in the pool for their finals when this edition went to press.
