$16m investment in stone crushing quarry

A localLY-based company has invested more than $16 million in a new stone crushing quarry and provided employment for more than 35 people in Dawasamu, Tailevu.

Gold Rock Investment Ltd managing director and owner Shun Hui said their stone quarry would be officially opened on July 28 and would employ more workers once operational. He said they had 13 specialists from China, who have set up quarries and stone crushers in China.

“We have around 11 employees from the surrounding villages and 11 other local environment, and health and safety specialists,” Mr Hui said.

He said if it was not for Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston, they would have been opened and operational already.

Mr Hui said that the delay made by TC Winston brought them and the locals closer together as the people of the villages of Veilolo, Delakado, Natadradave and Vorovoro received more than $10,000 worth of relief supplies from the company.

He said their current location was ideal for business because of the quality of the stones they have tested here are some of the best in Fiji.
