156 join Republic of Fiji Military Forces

Families and friends turned up in numbers and braved the rain this week to witness 156 new recruits during the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) 1/23 basic recruit passing-out parade at the Force Training Group (FTG) in Nasinu.

RFMF commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai reminded the new recruits of the importance of the oath they had undertaken and encouraged them to serve with patience, discipline, compassion, and diligence.

Eremodo Liganivai, 19, won the Best All Around Recruit award.

The Rewa lad said the struggle and pain he endured during the 12 weeks of training was worth it in the end.

Other award recipients were:

• Best Rifle Shot – Sunia Koroibola.

• Best Light Machine Gun Shot – Mikaele Lewaicei.

• Best Platoon Barracks – Sawani Barracks, under the leadership of recruit Ilaijia Waqanisau.

• Best Platoon in the Field – Platoon 1 led by W02 Salusalu Rokobuli.

• Best Platoon in Drill – Platoon 3 led by W02 Sailasa Leva.
