The High Court of Fiji has convicted a 14-year-old boy of two counts of rape against his younger sister, who was 12 years old at the time of the offences.
The incidents occurred on 21 March 2025 in a one-room family hut in Newtown, while their mother was temporarily absent from the home.
The girl initially delayed disclosure due to fear of retaliation from her brother, who had threatened her.
After he left the house to play, she confided in her mother, describing the acts in detail.
Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar said family difficulties did not credibly account for such grave, specific allegations.
The boy was found guilty on 23 January 2026.
He will be sentences at a later date.
