13 teams for Islam tourney

THE Maunatul Islam Sports Association of Fiji Football Championship to be played at Churchill Park in Lautoka from October 28-29 will not lack international flavour with a strong team from New Zealand registering for the annual event.

The two-day championship has attracted teams from Suva, Ba, Nadi, Lautoka and Sigatoka.

Association’s president Mohammed Rafiq said 12 local teams and one from overseas would be participating. He said the teams would be drawn into four pools.

“The teams would be challenging for the SM Koya trophy,” Rafiq said.

“Some teams will feature district reps.”

Lautoka is expected to name a strong side. Zibraaz Sahib guided Lautoka to victory during the association’s Inter District Championship in 2015.
