The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) has confirmed that 12 evacuation centres are currently active across the country as severe weather conditions continue to impact communities.
As of 7pm today, eight centres are operating in the Western Division, three in the Eastern Division, and one in the Central Division.
These centres are sheltering more than 290 evacuees from over 100 households who have been safely relocated from affected areas.
Authorities say the number of evacuees may change as conditions evolve, with ongoing monitoring and coordination between response agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those displaced.
The NDRMO is urging members of the public to remain alert and follow all official advisories.
People are also advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly through flooded areas, which can pose serious danger.
