THE people of Ra collected $117,000 during the Siga Vou Kei Ra Day that was held on October 10 at the Ra High School. Since 2017, the Siga Vou Kei Ra Day has been collecting funds that will be used under a scholarship trust fund to support all natives of Ra and children whose mothers were from the province.

“Since its establishment in 2017 we have managed to cross $400,000,” sai d Siga Vou Kei Ra Day organiser Ratu Josaia Niudamu.

“Our target is $500,000 and once we reach that we will execute the Deed of Trust with our scholarship recipients.”

Mr Niudamu added education should be prioritised by the people of Ra in Fiji and abroad. “With good education it will bring about big changes in our community and most importantly our lovely province of Ra where we will be eradicated from the current poverty cycle, we are in.”
