Students that were part of the education youth training program in Sigatoka were urged to be proactive in addressing the challenges of climate change and disaster risk reduction last week.
More than 110 students completed their training in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, organic agriculture, livestock production, home gardening and nursery management during the week-long workshop.
In completing their training, the students were handed certificates by the Youth and Sports Minister, Jese Saukuru.
Mr Saukuru praised the students for their commitment and eagerness to learn, especially during their school holiday.
“I would like to take this moment to thank each and every one who has dedicated their holiday time to participate in this training,” he said.
“Your commitment and eagerness to learn are truly commendable, and I have no doubt that the knowledge and skills you have gained will serve you well in the years to come.”
He extended his thanks to the parents and guardians who supported their children in attending the program.
He encouraged them to use their newfound knowledge and skills to make a lasting impact on the world around them.
“Use the knowledge and skills you have gained to make a positive impact in your communities and to contribute to building a more sustainable future for all.
“Remember that the power to make a difference lies within each and every one of you.”
