1,086 employment-related departures in November – FBoS

Employment emerged as a key driver of longer-term resident departures in November 2025, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.

1,086 Fijians left the country on employment-related travel, 453 leaving for a period under 3 months, 374 departing for three to 12 months and a further 259 for one to five years.

Business travel accounted for 1,176 departures.

Education and training purposes accounted for 949 departures.

Longer-term departures were less common. A total of 502 residents left Fiji for periods between one and five years, while 346 departed for over five years or permanently.

Emigration accounted for 155 departures.

Holidays remained the leading purpose of travel, accounting for 8,728 departures in November.

This was followed by visits to friends or relatives, which recorded 6,829 departures.
