106 Fijian families working under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme (PALM) can now bring their families to Australia under the Family Accompaniment Pilot launched today.

The 106 Fijian workers have been selected for this pilot, with pre- departure briefings being held for their families in Suva, Nadi and Labasa.

The Australian High Commission states these briefings will cover culture, financial literacy, health and emergency, parenting rights and responsibilities, government benefits, education, and accommodation.

In Australia, families will have access to benefits like the Family Tax Benefit, Childcare Subsidy and Medicare. Partners of PALM scheme workers will be able to work in Australia, and their children can attend school.
