THE Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) will give 10 youth the opportunity to contest the next general election.
Party leader and Education Minister Aseri Radrodro said this while speaking to more than 300 youths from across Fiji who gathered yesterday for the SODELPA Youth annual general meeting.
Mr Radrodro urged them to focus on education, discipline, and leadership.
He told the youths the party’s main priority for young people was to ensure proper educational and employment pathways.
“As part of the Coalition government, we have taken care of some of the issues,” he said.
“From my side, we have done the writing off of the student loan and provided scholarships to ensure that every student is given the opportunity to access quality education and lifelong learning skills.”
He added the party was committed to involving youths in decision-making and leadership roles.
“We are giving 10 seats to our young people to ensure they are part of our journey towards 2026.”
Mr Radrodro also called on youths to support SODELPA, saying it is “a party that has been in existence for more than 20 years and continues to promote equal opportunities in education, business and employment.”
He further encouraged youths to be law-abiding citizens, stay away from drugs and HIV, and help their friends complete their education.
New board members were also elected, led by President Ratu Tevita Momoedonu, along with Vice Presidents Angeline Tikoitoga and Joshua Gaunavinaka.
