Fijian Drua captain Meli Derenalagi told his players to write their names on stones and not on sand when they faced the Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby Pacific last Saturday.
Derenalagi said the match was a historic one and the players were reminded of the stakes.
“I just motivated them and tried to tell them that to keep our mind open. Whatever happens this game was to write your legacy on the stone, not on the sand,” Derenalagi said.
“So today’s game, I just encourage the boys just to put one good story for our future generation. That is the first season for the Super Rugby Pacific for us, both the teams.”
Derenalagi and his brigade managed to jot the pieces together to beat the Moana Pasifika 34-19 last Saturday.
This was the teams’ second win of the season.
