SHAVING my hair was the least I could do to show my support for children battling cancer.

These were the words of Vela-Bale Serukalou, a program associate at the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) resilience and sustainable development unit.

Showing her support on raising awareness about childhood cancer, Ms Serukalou yesterday shaved her hair at the UNDP office in Suva.

WOWS Kids Fiji co-founder Sina Kami acknowledged the support Ms Serukalou showed as part of their Save it or Shave it campaign.

Ms Serukalou said she was inspired by the late Tae Kami story.

“I heard the late Tae Kami back in 2007 talk about her story and it touched my heart, I was so inspired,” she said.

“She was so young, she had a vision and she was very confident even though she was in a lot of pain.”

She added she felt that it was unfair that young children die so early because of this dreadful disease called cancer.

The gift was raised by the staff members and all the agencies. She managed to raise more than $6000.
