The Water Authority of Fiji says repair works on the DN 600 trunk main between the Waila Water Treatment Plant and the Wainibuku Reservoir were successfully completed this afternoon, paving the way for the gradual restoration of water supply to affected areas.
WAF confirmed that following the completion of repairs, teams successfully tested the repaired section of the trunk main, recharged the system and restored water inflow to the main Wainibuku Reservoir.
With supply now flowing back into the main reservoir, restoration efforts are now focused on dependent reservoirs and supply systems connected across the wider network.
The authority said flushing works will begin from this evening, with water supply expected to gradually return throughout tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Customers in affected areas are being advised that restoration may take time as reservoirs refill and pressure stabilises across the network.
WAF said every effort was being made to restore normal water supply services within the planned timeframe.
The authority also confirmed that water carting trucks have been deployed to assist communities still experiencing supply disruptions.
Residents requiring emergency water assistance have been urged to contact WAF while water carting teams continue ongoing sweep operations in affected areas.
WAF thanked customers for their patience, understanding and cooperation while repair and restoration works were carried out.
